Dressed to Impress

I've blogged many times about Mitchell's love for his pajamas. 2 seconds after we get in the door from school, he's taking off his clothes and looking for his pajamas. If we end up going out after Dave gets home, he usually just puts his clothes on over his pajamas. Some days I can convince him to leave his clothes on when he gets home. But that is pretty rare.

You can imagine that it's worse on the weekends. If we don't have plans, he'll leave his pajamas on pretty much all day long....or at least until lunchtime.

This past Saturday we had a playdate with Mitchell's friend Andrew. They are in Pre-K together at Esther Jackson. I think Andrew is a hoot. I'll never forget how he introduced himself as "Darth Vader" when I took cupcakes to Mitchell's class for his birthday. The kid is hilarious and I think he's so cute.

The original plan was to meet at the neighborhood park at 1pm. But then Andrew took a nap and his mom said they would just come to our house at 2pm. I told Mitchell he would need to get dressed for the playdate. Instead of getting dressed in CLOTHES, he simply changed pajamas....he changed into his new "Wall-E" pajamas. I told him he would need to put clothes on and he told me that Andrew *loves* "Wall-E" so he simply *had* to wear these pajamas so Andrew could see them. How could I argue with that?

Andrew and his mom showed up around 2pm. Mitchell was at the curb waiting (in his Wall-E pajamas of course) for Andrew to arrive. Although when he drove up, Mitchell ran inside and I was concerned about how the playdate would progress. However, he just went in to get his light saber.

I always feel the need to explain the pajamas to other parents. I tell them that we do dress our child in clothes; he doesn't *always* wear pajamas. And at least they are clean!
