I know it’s been a while since I’ve updated everyone on our family! And if I don't hurry up and publish this post, it will be August. So I'm going to post it without any pictures. I think everyone has seen the pictures I would have included anyway!
We’ve had a very busy summer. Right after I last posted, we headed to the beach for a week and then we went to NC so Macey could meet her Great Grandmother.
Our time at the beach was very relaxing and enjoyable. Mitchell befriended a boy who was staying at the house across the street. They had fun playing in the ocean and swimming at his house. He has already asked me if Jaden will be there next year.
It was hard to pack up and leave on Thursday when our time at the beach was over! Mom and Dad drove me and the kids to Raleigh. We had a lovely lunch with Grandmother and her friends. Macey was a bit fussy during lunch, but thankfully no one seemed to mind too much. In between lunch and dessert, she blew out her diaper and we both had to be cleaned up. Unfortunately, Magnolia Glen does not have changing tables in their bathrooms! So Mom and I had to change and clean Macey up on the bathroom counter. After lunch we went to Grandmother’s room and Mitchell read to her from a new Dr. Seuss book. It took some coaxing, but he finally read to her. He seems to think he’s on summer vacation or something!
We headed to Statesville after our visit and Mitchell immediately started asking to drive Granddad’s golf cart. We got to visit with friends and even stepped back in time by going to Village Inn Pizza. The place has been around for years and is still in the same location that I remember from growing up. Mitchell had a blast and the pizza was really good!
We made our way back home on Saturday after being gone for 10 days. While we missed being at the beach and being with family, we were glad to be back home! Although it meant that I had just one more week at home with Macey before going back to work.
On Monday, I took both kids to a new movie theater that just opened down the street from us. Studio Movie Grill is a movie theater and restaurant. Since it just opened, they were offering free passes, so we had to take advantage of that! We saw Despicable Me. Mitchell really enjoyed it and Macey did great. She’s already seen 4 movies! When we left the theater, it was pouring down rain. I should have waited it out in the lobby with some of the other people. But I didn’t think it was that bad…until we got out in it. It wasn’t easy getting through the parking lot with Macey in her carseat. We were drenched…but we made it to the car.
By Tuesday, Mitchell was bored with me and Macey. I had to go to Primrose for a quick orientation session so we’d be ready for her first day on the 19th. Mitchell wasn’t happy to learn that he wouldn’t be staying. So we made the decision to just send him to camp. He has loved the summer camp program there. And he’s certainly more active and entertained than he is at home. I really needed to stay home more in an attempt to get Macey on some kind of napping schedule. So it all worked out…except Macey still isn’t on any kind of regular schedule. Her napping is all over the place and nothing seems consistent (yet).
Everyone had a great week; however, it went by way too fast for me. Before I knew it, it was Sunday night and things were going to change on Monday morning.
Stay tuned....
