Fulton County schools started back 2 weeks later than normal this year. So the first day of school was this past Monday, August 23rd instead of the 2nd Monday of the month. It seemed to take an eternity for the 23rd to arrive as opposed to how quickly the 2nd Monday of the month always came up.
We had Open House on Thursday, August 19th. I continually have flashbacks to Mitchell's first Open House when he was starting Pre-K in 2008. The blood curdling screams and hands clutched on the doorframe of the entrance to the school were not pleasant to experience. I remind Mitchell of that night every year before Open House and I make sure that we aren't going to experience that again. This year, he told me that he was just faking when he did that. He has a career in acting if that performance was fake because it looked and felt pretty real to me!
We met up with a friend that Mitchell made during baseball season. Cooper is starting Kindergarten this year. We had to submit proof of residency first, but once we got into the halls of the school, we decided to visit Mitchell's old Kindergarten teacher first. Then we went to his classroom for a few minutes and met his teacher, Ms. Buchanan. We then roamed the halls seeing old teachers and friends. Then Mitchell wanted to go to his classroom one last time. I'm glad that we did because it was pouring down rain by this time and Mitchell's teacher gave me an umbrella.
On to the pictures...
Fake smile for Mom
Real smile and laughter with his friends...just the way it should be!
I was excited to pick Mitchell up at PrimeTime after his first day at school. He didn't really like my questions though! After 3 one word answers, he responded with, "Mom! Do we have to keep doing this?!" In that regard, nothing has changed!
