I know it's been so long since I've posted on Mitchell's blog. Sorry about that!
But I had to post today about Mitchell's bedtime routine because it just cracks me up. Around 8pm, we all head back to our bedroom and we lay down in our bed. Mitchell has 1 pillow that he lays on in between me and Dave. Although lately he's started wanting one of my pillows. So I told him he could have 2 pillows when he's 3-years-old. So I asked him how old he was, and after thinking for a moment, he said "Three!". I was tempted to give him another pillow after that just for being so smart!
So then I tell him to tell Daddy night-night and let's go to bed. So he gives Dave "5" about 10 times and then he wants to hop across the bed and jump into my arms. Then I take him in his room where he turns on his CD player and listens to a Little People CD. He has all kinds of stuff in his bed -- books, cars and lots of blankets. He'll lay down and ask me to cover his legs. Then he'll ask for milk and I'll tell him no, he just had milk. So then he asks for apple juice and I tell him no. And then he asks for water and I tell him no (we're working on having a dry diaper when he wakes up). Sometimes he just runs his request all together and says "I want milk-apple juice-water." So then I tell him night-night and he tells me night-night about 3-4 times and then he says "bye Mommy" and I have to say "bye Mitchell" as a I walk out of his room.
And we go through this same routine every single night! But it works because he's been sleeping so good lately! Knock on wood.
Some nights I'll go to check on him before I go to sleep and the blanket has come off his legs. But he'll use his pillow to cover them up and I'll find him sleeping on his blanket instead!
