Yikes...school starts in less than 2 weeks!

I think Mitchell is completely ready to start Pre-K at Esther Jackson in 2 weeks. I'm the one who is nervous about it! I don't feel ready yet. We've been at Primrose for 4 1/2 years now and I'm used to the teachers and the system there. Now I have to learn a new way to doing things! Thank goodness for our neighbors who have been been there and done that and are helping to educate me on how things are done.

I think drop offs will be the biggest change. At Primrose, all parents walk their child inside to their classroom. But at the elementary school, they discourage parents from walking their children to their classroom after the first week of school. I just can't imagine driving up to the front of the school and dropping him off while he walks to his class all by himself! How is he already old enough to do that???!

We went to Target last Thursday and he picked out a Cars backpack and a Speed Racer lunchbox. When Aunt Kerri was in town this past weekend, she bought him a Speed Racer "juice bottle" (aka Thermos).

He was so excited about his new backpack. He wore it around Target for the rest of the shopping trip. Then he wanted to take it to school on Friday. He told me he needed help "packing". So I asked him what he was taking and he said, "Clothes!" So I checked it out and he had taken all of his clean clothes that hadn't been put away yet and he crammed them into his backpack! I told him he didn't need to take that many clothes to school with him. So I talked him down to 2 outfits, 1 pair of underwear and 1 pair of socks.

I asked him he wanted me to pack his lunch or if he wanted to have lunch at school like he does now. He said he wants to pack his lunch. So I asked him what he wants. He said juice, a banana and peanut butter crackers!

We should find out who is teacher is in the next week or so. And we'll go for the Open House on Thursday before school starts. I just hope I...I mean...Mitchell survives.

I'm sure he'll do awesome. I agree it's definitely harder on us mommies than on them. I'm glad he's so excited!
