Mitchell's 6th Birthday Party

We celebrated Mitchell’s 6th birthday this past weekend at Roswell Gymnastics. Since the party was a few weeks before his birthday, Mitchell was confused about when he would turn 6. He kept asking me if he was 6 since it was his birthday party. Adding to the confusion is his thinking that his birthday is November 19th and November 20th. I’m not sure where that came from! But it is funny since his due date was November 19th.

We had beautiful weather (like we have had the past 5 years) on the day of the party. But I know if I ever planned an outdoor party, it would be cold and rainy!

Posing for some pictures before the party

The kids had a blast at the party. One of the gymnastics coaches and a member of the gymnastics team helped the kids get warmed up by stretching. They made it fun for the kids and I don’t think they even felt like it was “work”. Then they got to jump into the foam pit and play in there for a while.

After the foam pit, we moved to a different area of the gym where they had a balance beam, a bounce house, an obstacle course and rings for the kids to play on. The gymnast showed the kids how they could put their legs through the rings and use it as a swing. They all loved that.

Then it was time for the rope swing. To add to the fun, the coach brought out a water bottle and let the kids squirt whoever was on the rope at the time.

Then it was time for cake. Mitchell wanted a football cake and we found one at Publix that he liked. However, when they wrote on the cake, it kind of looked like he was turning 50 instead of 6. But that didn’t matter once we cut into the cake and the kids gobbled it up.

After cake, we had the awards ceremony where the kids got medals. They each got to stand on the podium and everyone cheered.

Then we opened presents, which was pretty chaotic! All of the kids were so excited about their gifts and told Mitchell what they had gotten him before he could even open it.

It was a great birthday party and I'm glad it's behind us now! Although I got off easy by having the party somewhere other than our house. And I think we'll have his party here next year as well. It's a great place for the kids to get out some of their energy and they have fun as well.
