Spring Baseball

Yes, it's July and I'm talking about spring baseball! I'm behind. It will get only worse when baby #3 arrives! I might be years behind after that.

Mitchell was on the Giants this season. It was the first year he wasn't on the Marlins! LOL.

We certainly had our ups and downs, but we had a great group of kids and parents this season. Mitchell put his heart into playing 1st base. It's his favorite position and the position he knows the best. He played short stop for 1 or 2 innings and you could tell he felt lost playing another position. But needs that experience because he won't always get to play 1st base. Of course he doesn't understand that!

This was his last season of machine pitch. I will be interested to see what kid pitch is like! It's going to a whole new world for all of us as the rules are different as well. Evaluations for fall baseball are on August 18th. I'll be interested to see how the drafting process goes this season and hopefully he'll be on a team with some kids that he has played with before.

Below is a collage I made for the coaches of his team. One of the moms got some great pictures of each boy. My pregnancy hormones were in full swing and I got all teary eyed every time I read the poem in the middle of the collage. It was so fitting for our team this season because I'm sure there were many times our boys wanted to quit, but they didn't. We were in next to last place in the standings and weren't even guaranteed a spot in the playoffs.

We ended up beating the #7 seed and made it into the playoffs. At that point, we had to play the #1 seed. Unfortunately the game was Mother's Day weekend when a lot of families had prior commitments so we don't have a complete team. But the boys played their hearts out and gave the #1 team a run for their money. We ended up losing, but the boys learned to give their all no matter what the circumstances are. They truly learned the meaning of "I'm a greater boy for it because you taught me not to quit."
