He just keeps giving us good material!
Last night, it was just me and Mitchell hanging out at the house. I was in the den cleaning up some of his toys and he was in the kitchen. I *thought* he was just looking out the kitchen window like he always does. I went in to check on him and he had climbed on top of the kitchen table! He was just sitting in the middle of the table pleased as punch with himself. When he saw me, he said, "Get down." I guess he knew what I was getting ready to say and he knew he was doing something wrong!
Also last night, we were going for a walk with our neighbor, Danielle. He knew we were getting ready to leave so he walked over to the fridge, opened the door and put his sippy cup with water in it on the shelf he can reach. I guess he wanted to be sure it would be cold for later! Then he walked over to the front door and just waited by the door until it was time to leave.
This morning at daycare, Mitchell was high-fiving his friends Zach and Avery. It was so cute how they would each take turns walking over to each other and putting out their hand for a high five. Dave says when he picks up Mitchell now, Mitchell walks over to Zach and tries to give him a high five. I guess it's his way of communicating with his friends! His teacher also said that Mitchell and Zach like to "wrestle" with each other. If one of them is laying on the floor, the other one will "pounce" and they will start rolling around together...giggling the whole time.
Hopefully Mitchell and Zach will be in school together for quite a while because it seems like they have a quite a bond!
Mitchell is also getting good at identifying animals and the sounds they make. I was reading the book Brown Bear to him and there is a page with a dog on it. As soon as I turn to that page, he says "dog." When he sees a picture of a goldfish, he makes a kissing noise. In school, they teach the kids that the sound a goldfish makes is a kissing noise.
Mitchell didn't end up getting a haircut over the weekend...at least not a professional one. Dave decided to trim Mitchell's bangs himself on Thursday night. I think I will let that hack job grow out a little bit before we take him for a real haircut.
