As one of my "friends" kindly pointed out to me today, I have not blogged yet this month. Thanks, Greg, for bringing that to my attention.
Mitchell took his 4th plane ride in his 17-month life last weekend. We left Saturday morning to fly up to Raleigh, NC. The trip was really a surprise for Dave for his birthday (April 3rd) and our wedding anniversary (April 13). He thought we were going for a surprise party for my mom's 60th birthday. On the plane, I told him that the surprise was for him instead. I planned for us to have dinner at the Angus Barn (where we had our wedding reception) and then to stay at the hotel (in the same suite) as we stayed in our wedding night. My sister would watch Mitchell for us. He was very surprised and didn't have a clue that I had been planning this trip since January.
Mitchell did great on the plane. He fell asleep during the take-off and slept the whole time in my arms. He also did good on the return trip, even though he didn't fall asleep until we were landing. He slept through the landing and he slept through us putting him in his stroller, taking the train to the main terminal and putting him in his car seat! Little man was worn out!
Mitchell is very much into imitating us now. The other night, he turned over the bin that we store his toys in. He rolled it over the track to his roller coaster and proceeded to climb on top of it. Dave was watching him the whole time. When he got on top and stood up, he was so proud of himself. Then Dave shook his finger at him and said, "Get down." So Mitchell looked at Dave, shook his finger and said, "Get down." It was hilarious.
When we got back into town on Sunday, Dave picked up a Sunday paper and he left it sitting on the ottoman in the den. Dave was taking a nap at the time so Mitchell climbed up in the chair, picked up a paper from the top of the stack and proceeded to "read" the paper. Funny thing is, the top paper was the Kroger sale ad for the week. Who else sits in the chair reading the Kroger sale ad?? Not anyone we know. : )
Who ever thought being mocked would be so funny?
Sadly, I have to say that I think Mitchell will be getting his first haircut this weekend. We held out as long as we could. But it is getting very unruly now. He has bed head all of the time now. We are not getting all of the curls cut off. But it needs to be shaped up for sure. So I'll report on that next week!
We have lots to look forward to....Aunt Kerri is coming to visit next weekend. We're leaving for the beach on May 7th. We'll be gone for a whole week! When we come back, our neighbor's daughter is being baptized.
So we're staying very busy these days!

"Good" job on posting a "new" blog entry. It's about "time." But I have a "question." Why in the world did you put "friend" in quotes? ;)
Because a good "friend" wouldn't have pointed that out!!
