Happy Birthday, Mitchell!

Our little boy turns 2 today (officially at 5:16 pm)!

We had his birthday party yesterday and he had a blast. His friends from the neighborhood came over to help him celebrate. He got all kinds of great gifts...puzzles, a Mr. Potato Head, lots of cute clothes, Christmas PJs, a Sit 'n Spin, books, a musical instrument set, a chain saw and lots more!

Here he is this morning:

And here he is 1 year ago today:

He had his 2-year checkup on Friday. He was so good during the entire appointment. He was good while the nurse weighed and measured him and then pricked his finger for an iron check. His iron came back good...42%. The minimum is 36%. He weighed 32 1/2 lbs and was 35 1/4" tall. He kept showing the doctor is "sticker" (band-aid) on his finger. He even showed his "sticker" to everyone we passed in the hall on the way to the elevator.

He is also showing an interest in potty training. When he moved up to the 2-year-old class in September, they started putting him on the potty for every diaper change. He's really gotten the hang of it at school and at home, he'll get the insert for the toilet, put it on the seat and try to take his clothes off. As soon as he gets on the toilet, he grabs as much toilet paper as he can before we stop him. Most of the time nothing happens, but last night, he did pee pee on the potty. He told me that he had to go, but I wasn't sure if even knew what they meant. But he was right! After he's done, he'll put up the insert, close the lid and flush the toilet. Then we wash his hands and get him dressed. We'll see how it goes. I think it's a novelty for now and we're not pushing him.

Happy Birthday, Mitchell! Mommy and Daddy love you very much and we're so proud of all you have accomplished in the last year. You can say lots of words and phrases and you are very quick on your feet. You make us laugh all of the time and we love hearing you laugh.
