Mitchell and Santa - Take Three

Excuse the backdating of the Christmas posts. I knew it would be a very long post to combine all of these into one!

As is our tradition, we took Mitchell to Northpoint Mall today for his annual picture with Santa. The first year was the smoothest yet. I was the only one who cried that year! Mitchell was 5 weeks old and was perfectly content in Santa's arms. Last year, he has just turned 1 and wasn't quite so sure about the whole thing. This year he was all but mad about sitting on Santa's lap.

We try to get there early to avoid the crowds and long lines. Santa arrives at 11am, so we got there around 10:30 because we also had to pick up some pictures from Picture People. There wasn’t a wait yet so we got in line with our neighbors and their kids (Victoria and Christian). The kids played while we waited and the time passed by quickly. Right at 11:00, Santa came down the escalator shouting “Merry Christmas” and ringing a bell. The line moved pretty quickly and before I knew it, it was Mitchell’s turn.

We let Victoria and Christian go first so Mitchell could see how it was done. Maybe that was a bad idea because Christian didn’t like Santa too much. He sat on his lap and cried and cried. Mitchell stood on the sidelines and watched. When it was his turn, he wouldn’t budge. So I picked him up and carried him over to Santa. On the video that Dave made, you can see a silent plea from Mitchell to his Daddy to save him.

So we get to Santa’s chair and it’s time for Mitchell to sit on his lap. The only problem is that Mitchell has a death grip on me with his legs around my waist. Santa helps pry him off of me (this can all be seen on the video) and Mitchell begins crying. The photographer snaps a few pictures. I walk over to retrieve Mitchell and Santa says, “I think that went pretty well.” Ha. I go to look at the pictures and we pick the “best” one.
