Mitchell actually slept late (until 7 am) on Christmas Day. So Dave and I were able to get up and get ourselves ready and get everything packed before he even woke up. Grammy joined us for breakfast at Mom and Dad’s house. We had a delicious breakfast of grits, scrambled eggs, bacon and Grammy’s bread tree. Christmas isn’t complete without the bread tree! After breakfast, we got everything loaded in the car. Luckily Dad let us park in the garage when we came back from church on Saturday night because it was pouring rain on Sunday morning. That would not have been much fun to load the car in the rain.
So we got loaded up and headed out to Greensboro a little bit after 9:00. We got to the Preslan’s around 10:15-10:30 and it was time to open gifts again! Mitchell seemed a little overwhelmed at first, but he eventually got into opening his gifts. He got an awesome Tonka dump truck that kept him occupied for a while. He loved racing it around the house. He also got a playhouse/tent that he liked going into with Aunt Laurie. He got so many great presents that it’s hard to list all of them! Mitchell is one lucky little boy to have so many people who love him and want to shower him with gifts.
We spent Christmas Day watching Mitchell playing with his toys, getting into things like the cat’s water and eating lots of Grandma Preslan’s delicious chocolate chip cookies. We had a wonderful Christmas dinner thanks to Nancy and Laurie. Mitchell loves ham! That was his favorite part of the meal along with chocolate chip cookies.
Unfortunately, the holiday weekend was just too short. We headed back to Atlanta first thing Monday morning. We were anxious to get ahead of the traffic. We got home around noon and unpacked everything. I started laundry while Mitchell napped (thank goodness). His schedule got out of whack with the traveling!
But it was all worth it to spend time with our families and for Mitchell to see his extended family.
