So we woke up this morning and Santa had brought Mitchell a train table and a car that he can pedal. Mitchell was fascinated with the train table and played with the choo-choo for most of the day. It’s a good thing that the table is sturdy because Mitchell likes to lay on it and climb on it as well!

Dave and I opened our gifts and then we headed to Krispy Kreme for a dozen hot donuts. Back at home, we all ate breakfast together and then decided to head to Great Clips for haircuts for Dave and Mitchell. It was time to clip Mitchell’s wings.
We thought it would help if Mitchell watched Dave getting his haircut first. That way he would see that Daddy didn’t cry so Mitchell wouldn’t cry. I thought we would be OK as well because the stylist had this yellow "creature" that sang "On the Road Again". Mitchell has never heard this song before, but he loved it. He kept wanting to play the song over and over and over again. So I thought that would distract him during his haircut. That theory didn’t work for us. First of all, Mitchell ripped the cape off as soon as the stylist put it on him and then he started having a fit and broke down crying. So she said that he could sit in my lap and she would cut his hair that way. Even sitting in my lap didn’t help all that much. It seemed to be worse when he looked at himself in the mirror. That seemed to bring on a whole new round of tears.
Somehow she was able to get his hair cut without cutting him or herself. I was surprised because he was not sitting still at all. He kept trying to dodge the scissors.
The new haircut makes a huge difference. He looks so grown up now! We had talked during the week about getting it cut before we went home for the holidays; however, on Thursday when I picked Mitchell up from school, his friend Zach came over and told me that Mitchell needed a haircut! I hope Zach likes his new haircut.

After Mitchell's nap, we went out for an early dinner at The Wild Wing Cafe. We first discovered this restaurant in Hilton Head, SC. They just opened one not too far from our house. Interestingly enough, the guy who opened the restaurant is from Atlanta and had relocated to Hilton Head because of the golf, but he found that it was lacking in places to relax, eat wings and drink beer. So he opened The Wild Wing Cafe.
After dinner, we went to an inflatable playground called Jumpin' Jacks Playland. Mitchell and his friend Addy had a great time bouncing and sliding on the inflatables.
It's not too often that all 3 of us are home together during the week, so it was a very special day and we were glad that we could celebrate Christmas together in a fun way.
