Mother's Day 2008

My 5th (or is it 6th?) Mother's Day was great! It's my 6th Mother's Day if you count the year I was pregnant with Mitchell.

Dave and I just returned from Orlando, FL...well-rested and excited about our upcoming trip in October. Mitchell was in a good mood after spending a couple of days with Grandmother and Granddad.

We got up Sunday morning with plans to eat brunch at my favorite restaurant (Village Tavern). As we were getting ready to leave for the restaurant and Mitchell asked where we were going, I tried to explain "brunch" to him. He wasn't so sure he wanted to go. He said, "I don't want to go to brunch. I want to go to Six Flags!" But he begrudgingly came along. (He didn't really have much of a choice!)

It was outstanding. As always, we had great service and the food was delicious.

He soon forgot about Six Flags as we loaded him up with sugar...Frosted Flakes cereal, powdered doughnuts and vanilla ice cream. Of course after all of that, he had a tummy ache. So we topped everything off with some watermelon and a trip to Chuck E. Cheese!

The highlight of any Mother's Day should be seeing your child happy, smiling and having a great time. So I didn't mind going to Chuck E. Cheese.

No post would be complete without a funny line from Mitchell.

We went to Six Flags a few weekends ago and I rode a roller coaster with him. When we got on, he said, "Mommy, don't scream. It will make my ears bigger."

Below is a picture of Mitchell under what he calls "My tree". It's a Japanese Maple that is outside of his bedroom window. He didn't want to take pictures on Mother's Day. He kept saying, "Let's do it tomorrow." But I finally convinced him to sit under his favorite tree and let me take some pictures of him. I had thought about taking him to Portrait Innovations for pictures like we did 2 years ago on Mother's Day. But I think I got a pretty decent one myself!

Then Mitchell wanted to take pictures of us. This was his first attempt.

The second one turned out much better after we told him he needed to stay still while he was taking the picture!

Sounds like you had a great mother's day! He did a great job with the pic in front of "his" tree!
