Our Weekend

Now that Mitchell has a new bookcase in his room (thanks to his Granddad), I was removing everything from the changing table so we can finally move it out of his room. The changing table quickly became the place to store books, stuffed animals and clothes after we stopped using it as a changing table.

As I was reorganizing his books on his bookshelf, Mitchell asked me what I was doing. He was upset that the changing table was now empty. He kept saying he wanted to put something on the changing table. I told him we were moving it out of his room so we could use it when we have another baby.

That started an interesting conversation. It went something like this:

Mitchell: Is Addy's sister coming over to use it?
Me: No. It's for when you have a baby brother or sister.
Mitchell: Is the baby coming tonight?
Me: No, not tonight.
Mitchell: Is the baby coming tomorrow?
Me: No, not tomorrow. It will be a while. Do you want a baby sister or a baby brother like Zachary at school?
Mitchell: I want a baby brother. I don't want a sister.

Thankfully the conversation ended then. But when the time comes, hopefully he'll be OK if we happen to have a girl!

Yesterday we were talking about our upcoming trip to the beach. Mitchell and I are flying home from Charlotte on the Saturday after our week at the beach. Almost every time we leave the house he asks me if we're going on the airplane. So I told him yesterday that we weren't going on the plane until June. He understands that May has to end before June starts and we're not going to the beach until June. Then he asked me what June is in Spanish. I guess I need to brush up because I don't know any Spanish!

While Dave was at the grocery store this morning, Mitchell wanted to sit in my lap. I told him that one day he would be too big to sit on my lap. And he said, "No, Mommy, I fit fine." Then he was comparing our feet side-by-side and said that we are both orange and Daddy is brown. I'm not sure why he thinks we're orange! LOL.

We headed to Six Flags and got there when they opened at 10:30. Mitchell rode 2 roller coasters that he had not ridden before. I rode the "The Great American Scream Machine" with him. It's one of the tallest wooden roller coasters in the world. Let's just say that only one of us was scared. I think Mitchell is going to be thrill-seeker one day! I held onto his arm and screamed the whole time. I just hope he doesn't want to ride it again because I don't think I can ride it again.

He also rode the log flume with Dave and loved that as well. He loved getting wet. A new Thomas area opened yesterday so we headed there as well. He rode Thomas the Tank Engine twice and played for a long time on the Thomas playground.

Oh my gosh, that orange thing has me totally cracking up. Maybe orange means you guys have blonde hair and Dave has brown?

Or I wondered if he meant "peach" instead of orange. Who knows with these crazy kids!!
