12 weeks and counting!

I have a little less than 12 weeks until the scheduled c-section. This upcoming Friday will mark the beginning of my 3rd trimester. It really has flown by quickly and I can't believe how soon she'll be here.

We aren't delivering at the same hospital where Mitchell was born. Well, it's the same "chain" (Northside), but a different location. We took a family tour of the hospital a few weekends ago and we are really happy with our choice. Since this hospital is more on the outskirts of town, it's not nearly as crowded. It certainly seemed much quieter and less hectic when we were on the tour. A big plus is the parking...there is no parking deck and parking is free! That will make things so much easier for our visitors and for Dave as I'm sure he'll be making a lot of trips back and forth.

Since we have a plan in place for the delivery and for Mitchell's care, I'm hoping that nothing happens to throw a kink into those plans!

Mitchell was a little concerned that we would be having the baby during the hospital tour. He told me numerous times that he doesn't want to be there "for the gross part". We have assured him that he won't be there during the actual birth. He'll go to school in the morning and have a baby sister by the afternoon! Isn't that how it's supposed to work?

Mitchell decided that he wants to move into the guest room and he'll let his baby sister take over his old room. So we've been busy over the past weekends -- throwing stuff away, donating stuff to Goodwill and just reorganizing. Over this past weekend, we moved the crib out of the guest room and back into the nursery. It was a good chance to check the crib over and tighten everything up. We raised the mattress back up to the newborn level and it looks so weird! Mitchell dug into his closet and found the Ocean Wonders aquarium for the side of the crib. We teased him about sleeping in the crib one last time, but he wouldn't go for it.

We haven't moved all of this things to the new room, but he has slept there for the past 2 nights and he really likes it. He was thrilled with his new bedding. Funny how something that is seemingly so simple can bring a huge smile to his face.

This is the bedding that he picked out. I'll take pictures of his room once it's complete. I was thrilled to find the matching sheets on clearance at Target when we bought the comforter.

The next step is figuring out what color to paint the room. Mitchell initially said he wanted to paint it orange. I wasn't sure at first, but it's grown on me now because I'm envisioning the top half painted orange, some kind of border (either chair rail or light blue paint) and then darker blue paint on the bottom half of the walls. This would entail switching out our dark wood trim though. We did that in the nursery and it is it a lot of work to paint all of the trim white. The other option is to paint the room a neutral tan color like the rest of the house. At least we wouldn't have to do anything with the trim because the color looks nice with the darker trim.

And while I had originally planned on keeping the nursery exactly as it is, I'm now having second thoughts about that. So everything is in flux right now...but I'm sure we'll get it figured out soon!

We have the luxury right now of not having a whole lot going on, but things are going to pick up soon. We have 2 baby showers later this month; we're doing a "staycation" at Stone Mountain; my parents are coming to visit; Mitchell has a sibling class at the hospital. It will be April before we know it!
