I started this blog on February 24, 2005. Mitchell was 15 months old. Now he's 75 months old! Of course we don't talk about his age in terms of months any longer. He's 6 years old and getting ready to be a big brother.
Speaking of being a big brother...we were at Kohl's the other day and I saw a really cute big brother shirt in his size. I brought it to him in the dressing room, which he insists on going into to try everything on now. I showed it to him and he said, "I won't wear it." I asked, "Why not?" and was told, "It's not cool, Mom."
We're running into that a lot lately. He won't wear his heavy jacket because it's not cool. If I say something is "cute", he declares that he won't wear it. Thankfully he's not really into brands yet and I don't even think he pays that much attention to what the other kids are wearing. Otherwise, he'd wear jeans like everyone else! But he wouldn't be Mitchell if he didn't insist on comfy pants with an elastic waist and his Falcons jersey. He does have other clothes even though most pictures of him these days are of him in his jersey.
He is loving his new room. We got him a few posters -- Matt Ryan, Atlanta Braves and an NFL poster with all the team helmets. We moved the crib out of the guest room and back into the nursery. We reminded Mitchell that he used to sleep there and asked if he wanted to sleep there once last time. Of course he laughed and said no. He did pull out his old Ocean Wonders aquarium that attaches to the side of the crib and he put it in her crib. He's been very generous (so far) with wanting to give his baby sister his baby stuff.
Back in his room....he was excited to have shelves that he could easily reach. On the lowest shelf, he arranged a "shrine" to the Falcons and to football. It's all very symmetrical and I got a kick out of watching him set it all up. He has 2 footballs on either end, a Falcons poster in the middle along with the ticket stubs from when he and Dave went to a game in November. He has 2 Falcons towels hanging off the shelf and all of his NFL trading cards lined up at the front. I haven't taken a picture yet, but I need to because I smile every time I go in his room and see how he arranged his stuff.
We'll get his room painted next month and I'll be sure to take pictures then.
Speaking of next month....it will be a busy month! Mitchell starts baseball on March 4th. I'm having maternity photos taken on March 6th. Mitchell is taking a sibling class on March 20th. My parents are coming to visit at the end of the month. With March being so busy, it just means that it will fly by and before we know it, it will be April and of course that means Macey's birth day. We'll have a lot to celebrate in April....Dave's birthday on April 3rd; our 8th wedding anniversary on April 13th; and Macey's birthday on April 23rd. It's hard to believe it's just a little over 8 weeks away now!
