We decided to have a staycation this past weekend. We had tickets to the Big Apple Circus, which is held every year at Stone Mountain. This was our 3rd year going and we still love it. They change the show every year and this year was just as good as years past. The only downside was our seats...we were directly underneath the safety net for the trapeze artists and Dave, more so than Mitchell and me, was sprinkled with a lot of chalk from the hands of the trapeze artists directly above him.
We went to the 4pm show on Saturday and then spent the night at the Marriott Evergreen. Mitchell loved the hotel. He said he wanted to live there!
The hotel had an outdoor pool and hot tub as well as indoor pool. It was in the 60s on Saturday, but it wasn't warm enough to go swimming outside. But Mitchell decided he would try it anyway. Thank goodness it didn't last long. He was in and out pretty quickly. Then he decided to try the hot tub. That was much warmer!
Then we moved to the indoor pool. Mitchell quickly made some new friends and he splashed, played and swam for a while. We then headed to our hotel room to watch the Olympics.
Unfortunately, we were all up pretty early. Mitchell still hasn't grasped the concept of sleeping late. At around 6am, he crawled into my bed and tried to steal my pillows. We lounged around the hotel room for a while and just took it easy. Dave tried to take Mitchell swimming again, but when he didn't see his friends from the previous night at the pool, he didn't want to swim.
Sunday was another beautiful, sunny day so Dave and Mitchell took advantage of the sun and played outside for a while. I got unpacked and caught up on laundry and even ran the vacuum cleaner and changed sheets.
I had a baby shower on Sunday afternoon. I'll post the pictures later. Baby Macey is already very loved and got lots of great presents!! We got a great mix of necessities (bottles, bathing gear) as well as some super cute clothes. Mitchell also got a book (Froggy's Baby Sister), which he was very excited about. We read it last night and he got a kick out of it because Froggy wanted a baby brother (as did Mitchell), but he got a baby sister instead. Froggy learned that girls aren't so bad and he taught her how to catch flies. I'm sure Mitchell has a lot of fun things to teach Macey as well!
Maybe we'll try another staycation soon....especially since my travel will be limited very soon! Mitchell loves staying in hotels (especially if there is a pool) and not driving for hours to get somewhere is very nice.
