Update on Mitchell and Macey

Macey had her 2-week checkup last Tuesday. She was up to 9 lbs and 21 inches. The pediatrician was really happy with her progress and said we don't have to come back until she's 2 months old. She said she's very strong and has great muscle tone. She's been trying to hold her head up on her own and is grabbing things (like hair!) now.

Mitchell hasn't gotten bored with her yet. He still asks to hold her. She actually seems pretty content with him (most of the time) and she just stares at him. He likes to hold her like I do (with her head against his chest) and sometimes she'll fall asleep laying on him like that. He's a big help with diaper changes...he'll open up the new diaper and hand it to me and also throws away the dirty diaper. I think he wants the diaper changes to go as quickly as possible because she cries during diaper changes and he does not like when she cries. When she does cry, he tells me, "Mommy! Change her diaper!" He does not like the thought of her having a dirty diaper either. I guess his protectiveness of her is just beginning.

Mitchell had his last baseball game on Saturday. He did really well and enjoyed being a Padre. I definitely think there will be more baseball in his future. He is going to a baseball camp in a few weeks and I'm sure his skills will improve after that. I'm not sure if he'll play in the fall...we're waiting to see what the recreation department offers for his age group. I do hope that they will offer the baseball class again. He took that last summer and really enjoyed it.

Mitchell's school had an awards day on Tuesday. Each kindergarten class sang a song. Mitchell's class sang about leaving kindergarten...it was such a cute song...I wish my memory card in my camera hadn't been full when I wanted to take a video of it. I did get a few pictures. After the official ceremony, we went back to Mitchell's class for individual awards. Mitchell won an award for "Race to the Finish"...for being the first one done with his work.

Today is the last day of school! It's hard to believe Mitchell's kindergarten days are over. I'm going to school in a few hours to help with his end of year party. We started out the day by going to Dunkin' Donuts...a tradition we started last year. I'll post pictures later.
