Mommy brag

I know, I know...it's been a long time since I've blogged! I see that I have 2 posts that I started about summer baseball and a trip we took to Chattanooga and I never finished them. Yikes! I'm so behind.

I think I've said it before on my blog and maybe it was this time last year when we had Mitchell's parent teacher conference...if I can't brag here, then where can I brag?

We met yesterday with Mitchell's 2nd grade teacher Ms. Stephan. She had nothing but great things to say about Mitchell. He's reading on a 4th grade level now! He and one other student in his class are the only 2 children allowed to visit a special part of the library with books for 4th and 5th graders. On the grading scale that they use for reading, he's at an "S". He should be at "J" when he leaves 2nd grade. So he's already ahead of where he needs to be by the end of the year. He should be reading 90 words per minute and he's reading 114 words per minute.

He's in the 3rd grade math class and is doing really well.

He's doing great in his other subjects as well. He's a great speller (just like his mom). There has been only 2 spelling tests where he didn't get 100%; but on each of those, he only missed 1 word.

Just like his previous teachers have told us, he's very quick in getting his work done. Sometimes this leads to mistakes; however, she said a lot of the time his work is completely right even when he flies through it.

We are so very proud of him!

Mitchell also had a baseball game last night. He's been at 1st base for most of the season and he's really playing well at the position. He had several outs last night at 1st. He had some good hits and got on base at every at bat. He hasn't had a strike out at all this season!

Tomorrow is the last game of the season. I'm always sad when baseball season ends. But we're starting Flag Football in a few weeks and it will be fun to see how he does at that sport. And before I know it, it will be time for spring baseball!
