I know I promised an update this past Monday and here it is Thursday already. I'm not sure where the week has gone!
Mitchell and I went to NC this weekend for Sydney's 1st birthday party. The flight to NC was great. Mitchell fell asleep during take-off and slept the entire time. I had to wake him up when we got to NC. The passenger beside me was traveling to Greensboro so we had plenty to talk about. And the flight attendants were extremely helpful with our luggage and stroller.
The weekend was filled with good food and visiting with family. Sydney's party was lots of fun. Mitchell wasn't interested in the presents, but he sure liked the bows. He wanted to pull them off and not give them back. He had fun visiting and playing with his cousin.
Mitchell had a special treat on Friday afternoon...Granddad took him to the putting green. We have some cute pictures of him walking around the putting green with his own "club". While Granddad claims to have taken him there in the golf cart, don't believe him. He was buckled securely in his car seat in the CAR and not in the golf cart!
I got a break on Saturday afternoon while Mom and Dad took Mitchell. Kerri and I went to see Hitch with Will Smith and Kevin James. It was very funny and we both enjoyed it. I don't think Mitchell even missed me!
Mitchell went to church on Sunday and saw all kinds of family there as well. Everyone was happy to see him. He went to the nursery but cried when Dad tried to leave him. But they distracted him by going outside to play since it was such a beautiful day on Sunday.
We left around 3 pm for the airport and Mitchell napped in the car for 45 mins. He was getting fussy before the flight so I gave him the last bit of milk that I had brought for him. He was pretty fussy during the flight as well. I gave him Goldfish and water and tried to distract him. For a while, he was flirting with the passenger beside me. They would make eye contact and he would turn his head away from her but then look back to see if she was still looking at him. The flight attendant brought us some pretzels and that helped some as well. Another passenger gave me some Biscotti biscuits. I'm sure some of the people around us wished they had taken US Air up on the offer to get bumped from the flight!
Our flight left late and we didn't land in Atlanta until 6:50. We got home around 8. I put on Mitchell's pajamas when I changed his diaper after the flight. He fell asleep on the way home and we were able to put him right in his crib.
The first few days back at daycare were rough. They said he wanted to nap earlier than usual. But I think he's back to normal now. I think he's trying to say "Zach". He's still saying "bu-ba" when we blow bubbles at home.
He woke up at 3 AM the other morning and I tried to rock him because he was so upset. But he would have nothing to do with that. So I put him down because he was squirmy and he walked right out of his room, down the hall and to the kitchen. He started pulling on the door of the fridge. I guess that was his way of saying that he wanted some milk. He certainly loves his milk!
We're definitely going to take it easy this weekend and catch up on our sleep!
