Apple, nana, Elmo and no

These are all of Mitchell's new words. It's like all of the sudden there is a word explosion. It started with apple and nana (banana) while we were at the beach. The day we came home, we went over to the neighbor's house and he saw her Elmo doll. He picked Elmo up and just said, "Elmo" clear as day. I had no idea he could say that! Then, on Sunday morning, Mitchell and I were laying on the couch. He looked up at me, touched my nose and said "no". He knows the body parts (ears, nose, mouth, eyes, hair, belly) when you ask him to point to them. No(se) is the first body part that he has actually said.

When he went back to school on Monday, I wanted him to show off his new words to his friends and teachers. So I asked him to say "apple". Before he could even get the word out, his 2 friends, Avery and Zach, were happily saying "apple, apple". So I asked him again to say apple and again, they were all over it before he could get a word out! I guess he needs to learn to be faster than his friends!

Avery and Zach were very excited to see him on Monday morning. Mitchell got there first. Avery and Zach arrived at the same time a few minutes after we got there. Zach starting laughing and dancing around when he saw Mitchell. Avery only wanted to imitate him, so she did the same. Then Mitchell got up and the 3 of them stood in a little circle dancing and laughing. It was so cute seeing the 3 of them reunite. Mitchell's teacher said that Zach came in every morning saying Mitchell's name and was looking for him.

Mitchell will turn 18 months this coming Friday. It's really hard to believe that it's been 18 months since he was born. I look back at pictures of him when he was younger and the transformation into a little boy is so amazing to me.

We'll go for his 18-month checkup next Wednesday, May 25th. I will take the day off and bring Mitchell up to work after lunch to visit with my co-workers.

On a non-Mitchell related note....I gave my 2 weeks' notice yesterday. My last day at Harland will be on May 27th. It was not an easy decision to make as I've been here for a little over 5 years. But it's time to move on. I will be working closer to home now and I hope that the shorter commute will relieve some stress. I am going to work at ADP as a QA Analyst. It's a lateral move for me...I will be doing the same job, just somewhere new. I am very excited about this new opportunity, but also very sad to be leaving some very good friends that I've made along the way.
