Mitchell and I went to Target yesterday after having lunch with a friend of mine. We were in the girls clothing department picking out an outfit for an upcoming birthday party. A woman standing near us started chatting with Mitchell about the boots that he had in the shopping cart. She told him that she liked the color and he told her that they were for going out in the snow. She kept asking him questions and he would answer. She told me she was a grandmother herself and just loved little boys. After she walked away, Mitchell said, “Mommy, I’m not shy with her. She is nice…like Grammy.” When I thought back, she did look a little bit like Grammy because she had the exact same color hair and her hair was styled very similarly. She also wore glasses and had a very sweet face.
On Friday night, we (Dave, Mitchell, my parents and I) headed to Home Depot to buy shelving for the closet in the master bedroom. I was trying to keep Mitchell from bothering my Dad while he was trying to figure out what we needed to buy. Mitchell kept saying he wanted to stand by Granddad or hold his hand. And I kept telling him that he was busy and to wait a minute until he was done shopping. But Mitchell walked up to Granddad and put his hand in Granddad’s hand and said to me, “See, he’s not busy.”
