Making a Wii bit of progress

We finally broke down and got a Wii a few weeks before Christmas. Dave and Mitchell have had a blast playing it. Mitchell has gotten really good at all of the Wii Sports games. However, he has a bit of an issue with good sportsmanship.

First of all, he taunts the people who is he beating. Secondly, if he is losing, he accuses the winner of cheating. Thirdly, he quits any game where he is not winning. Fourthly, he has a crying tantrum if he's losing.

Fun times, right?

We try to teach him about how to be a good sport. We tell him it's not nice to rub it in if someone loses and that everyone loses at some point.

Maybe a little of what we told finally got through. I was playing Wii Tennis with him on Thursday night and I could tell that he was purposely missing some easy shots that he always makes. I asked him if he was losing on purpose and he said, "Yes. Because I want you to win so you'll feel better." Yeah, my 5-year-old beats me every.single.time at Wii Tennis. I did tie him in Wii Bowling (we both scored a 170). Although he usually beats me at bowling as well.

But I finally "won" for once. Even though he let me win. But I'll take it anyway.

lol! It's sad that I remember doing that very thing when my parents would play cards with me when I was about Mitchell's age...

Maybe it's a stage!
