End of school year celebrations

We all went to Mitchell's classroom on Thursday, May 26th for Awards Day. The kids sang a couple of songs first and then Ms. Buchanan handed out the class awards.

In 1st grade, all of the kids get an award from the teacher. Mitchell was awarded with the "Always Having His Nose in a Book" award. He also got an award for participating in Math Superstars and for reading more than 1000 minutes.

That evening, we went to The Melting Pot for dinner. Mitchell has never been and Dave and I haven't been since I moved to Atlanta in 2000! We thought it would be a fun place to take him.

Surprisingly, he wasn't a big fan of the cheese course! I think he didn't like the taste of the beer in the cheese. It does have a funny aftertaste. But he did eat a lot of the apples.

He really enjoyed the meat course. I think the shrimp was his favorite. He also enjoyed the filet.

Of course the dessert was his favorite. I think if we go back, we'll just get dessert. We all had a bit of a food hangover the following day. Plus, it was a long dinner for Macey to sit through. Although she didn't really *sit* through it! She was quite fussy and wouldn't sit in her highchair for long. We took turns taking her outside...until a huge thunderstorm came over.
