Through the window

Over the weekend, we headed to Taco Mac for wings (although I got soup and salad since I'm *trying* to watch what I eat...I'm sure their homemade Ranch dressing is lowfat). There is a Bruster's nearby and Mitchell wanted to get some ice cream afterwards. He and Dave walked over and I drove the car. I got there in time to see Mitchell with a little ice cream sundae...with tons of sprinkles. Dave headed into Starbucks, while Mitchell tried to get back in the car with that sundae. I asked him what he was doing (but in a very nice way). He then decided to head into Starbucks and track down Daddy.

They ended up sitting down at a table in the Starbucks. (All the outside tables were wet because of the enormous amount of rain we had over the weekend.)

Of course I couldn't hear a word of what was being said since I was still in the car waiting on Mitchell to finish his ice cream before I would let him back in the car.

But what I saw through the window made me smile more than any rerun of Will and Grace I've watched since being laid off potential job I've seen on monster.com.

Mitchell was smiling, laughing and generally having a blast with his Daddy. I'm sure they were making crude jokes about bodily functions. (At least I didn't have to hear those.) But I didn't care what they were talking about. I loved being on the outside looking in to their relationship. The fact is, Dave just makes Mitchell laugh and giggle and encourages Mitchell to just let loose (which is hard for Mommy to do). At one point, Mitchell even got up and did a little bit of dancing. Goodness knows where he got that from since we don't dance.

It was the best 5 minutes of my day.
