San Antonio | Day Two | Saturday

We were up pretty early on Saturday morning since CST is 1 hour behind EST. But we did take our time getting ready. But we were all starving when we woke up! We had breakfast in the hotel and then headed to River Walk. We got a little turned around getting there, but eventually found where we wanted to go!

The first thing we did was the river cruise. And I’m glad we did that first because we saw long lines for the cruise later in the day! We had a great tour guide. What was not so great was a family of 4 talking non-stop right next to me. And this was right after the tour guide said not to talk in case there might people on the cruise who might actually want to listen to what he had to say!

Side note: As we were buying tickets, we ran into a family from Alabama who had a baby. Of course all parents with babies start talking to other parents with babies and in the course of the conversation, we found out that the woman’s sister lives in Roswell! What a small world.

After the cruise, we walked over to The Alamo and walked around inside a bit. We headed back to the river and ate lunch at Casa Rio, a Mexican restaurant right on the water. Unfortunately, a pigeon got to enjoy some of Dave's lunch when he left the table to take Mitchell to the bathroom. But they were gracious enough to bring him a new plate of food.

There was a craft fair going on, so we walked by the water and looked at the different vendors. Mitchell bought a bracelet with his name on it. I tried to find a souvenir, but was not successful. I really wanted a new piece of jewelry, but was not able to find anything that I really liked. We walked around the mall some more and I bought some souvenirs for Mitchell then we headed back to the hotel. Mitchell went swimming for a bit and then we went out to dinner.

We went to BJ's Brewhouse and the food was really good! I had a buffalo chicken pizza was very tasty. They had a dessert called a Pizcookie. The cookie is warmed in the pizza oven and then topped with ice cream.

This is the one I wanted. It's called Triple Chocolate Pizcookie made with Ghirardelli. Doesn't it look yummy??!

This is the one they brought me. I was so bummed that it wasn't the super chocolate one! I guess I didn't communicate very well which one I wanted. When I said "chocolate", I meant chocolate in every.single.bite. Not just a chocolate chip cookie. But the one they brought was still really good!

I digress: I started getting hungry just thinking about the dessert and wondered if there was a location anywhere near us. There is not one in GA; however, there is one in Kissimmee, FL. And we'll be there in January! I'll have to get over there and get the Triple Chocolate Pizcookie. I can think of at least one other person who will be on the trip with me who will eat it with me because she loves chocolate as much as I do. Mom ~ I'm talking to you!

I fed Macey after dinner and realized that she felt really hot to the touch. So we headed to Target to get a thermometer. Her temperature was 102.7. I called the hotel and they gave us directions to an urgent care. Unfortunately, they closed at 6pm and we got there at 6:30pm. Using our phones, we determined that there was a children's hospital nearby. So we headed there.

I went in with Macey while Dave and Mitchell parked the car. They checked me in, took us back and had just taken Macey's temperature, which was 103.2, when Dave and Mitchell walked in. They took us to a room and had me put a little hospital gown on her. I wish now that I had taken a picture! But I do have her tiny ER wrist band. Two nurses came in to do triage. Her pulse ox was good, which meant she wasn't having trouble breathing. The doctor came in soon after...he checked her ears and throat and all was clear. He decided to get a urine sample (via a catheter) to rule out UTI and get a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia.

Macey was a real trooper through all of this. They got the urine sample and then came to get us for the x-ray. She did not like having to lay still for the x-ray. They laid some sand bags on her and I had to hold her arms over her head.

I figured we'd be there all night waiting for results. But we quickly got results back for both tests and everything was clear. So the doctor determined it was just a virus. They gave her a dose of Tylenol at 7:30 and by the time we were leaving at 8:30, her temperature was already coming down.

Even though she was running a fever, she really didn't act like she felt bad. So we just kept dosing her with Tylenol throughout the evening.

Mitchell was probably the most relieved out of all of us since we were going to Six Flags on Sunday!
