Thanksgiving is my favorite time of year. I love that the focus is on giving thanks, not giving things. Don't get me wrong...I do love Christmas as well. But Thanksgiving doesn't seem to be as commercialized and the focus seems to remain on giving thanks. I choose to ignore the Black Friday sales and hype. : )
Mitchell's homework assignment on Monday was to write a list of 3 things that he's thankful. I was thrilled that his list contained 17 things instead! The spelling is all him as he wrote it for his assignment. I love that the school doesn't focus on spelling as much at this age. All they are trying to accomplish is a love of writing. I think his list would have been much shorter had he been forced to spell every single word correctly.
Mitchell:
1. games
2. toys
3. school
4. grandpairins
5. frenids
6. cusins
7. homework
8. pratys and
9. birthdays
10. anamels
11. techers
12. Mom and Dad
13. baby sister Macey
14. turkey
15. anets
16. family
17. football and baseball
I came up with Macey's list since she doesn't have much to say yet.
Macey:
1. Mommy's milk
2. big brother Mitchell
3. wonderful teachers at Primrose
4. grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins
Dave (as concise as ever):
1. My family
I decided to put a little twist on my list this year. Of course I'm always thankful for my wonderful family and friends, my job, that we have food to put on the table and a roof over our heads. Those things are always a given.
What I'm thankful for:
1. A baby who does not sleep through the night (because I get extra snuggle time with Macey).
2. A child who is not perfect (because I am challenged everyday to be a better parent).
3. A marriage which is not perfect (because I would take a perfect marriage for granted).
4. New opportunities (because I am forced to stretch outside of my comfort zone).
