We first saw Santa when Mitchell was just a few weeks old. The only person crying was me. I blame it on the post partum hormones that were still coursing through my body.
The next year started the streak of pictures of Mitchell crying in Santa's lap.
Let's walk down memory lane for a second.
You're probably thinking, "That doesn't look like Santa Claus." And it's not. It's Mitchell's best friend, Hazen. It's the closest we got to Santa last year.
So now it's 2008. A whole new year. Mitchell is 5 now.
We planned on going with Hazen and his twin sisters. Mitchell was excited and ready. He had his list: Air Hogs, night vision goggles and a Christmas train. We got to the mall around 9:30. Santa came down the escalator around 10:00. That was when Mitchell decided visiting Santa wasn't on his to do list today.
I got in line with the girls and Hazen's parents. I told them Mitchell most likely was not going to be visiting Santa today. Hazen's dad and Hazen went back to convince Mitchell to get in line. They did at least get him *near* the line.
That is when the negotiations started.
We saw Dave head over to the cookie store. So we knew he was going to bribe Mitchell with cookies. I don't know what kind of deal was made and I don't need to know. All I know is Mitchell came and got in line with Hazen...and it was just in time because there was only one person in front of us at this point.
Then they had some computer issues and had to reboot the system. While Santa was walking around talking to some of the kids, Mitchell actually waved at him.
Hazen went first with his sisters and they got their picture made. I could hear the girls crying, but I told Mitchell the visit was going well. Then Mitchell walked over (all on his own!) and sat on Santa's lap with Hazen. The only tears were in my eyes this time. I couldn't believe it. There he was sitting on Santa's lap smiling and talking.

That is awesome! Natalie did surprisingly well too. I just noticed something though... Santa is the same every year. How cool is that?
Oh yay, Tracey!!! I'm SO happy for you guys and especially for Mitchell that he had such a great time with Santa!! I loved the trip down memory lane though too!
those pics are hysterical!
You are right, Nicole -- it is the same Santa. I love that! They use the same green chair every year and the same Santa. He does change his vest though.
