Life with Mitchell

At least I am never short on content for my blog with Mitchell around.

You've Got Mail!
Mitchell left one of his new Bakugan cards at my parents' house. I told Mitchell that Granddad would mail it to him. Of course he kept asking when he would get it. I told him it would be a few days...mail isn't instant like a phone call.

We were at Aunt Laurie's condo on Friday after Christmas. She logged onto AOL on her computer and Mitchell heard "You've got mail!" And he looked around and asked if his Bakugan card had arrived.

That's a cowbell, not a Christmas ornament!
I was taking ornaments off of the Christmas tree today and I came across this:

It's a cowbell that Mitchell got at a birthday party a few weeks ago. I guess he thought it belonged on our Christmas tree!

Why won't she talk to me??!

Mitchell has discovered how to chat with his Aunt Kerri on the computer. He's done it a couple of times but he hasn't grasped that she can't hear him and he can't hear her...because it's not a phone. It's a computer! The last time they were chatting, he kept yelling at the computer, "Why won't you talk to me?" and "I can't hear you!"

I have to wonder where he got this from. Let me think about that one for a few minutes. Surely this isn't something that can be inherited...say from a mother who thought a tape recorder worked liked a phone.

Back in the day when we didn't have computers in our homes, my Grammy was helping my sister and me make a tape recording for my brother who was in the hospital recovering from heart surgery.

So we start out by saying hello to him. I got mad because he didn't respond to our cheerful greetings. Imagine a very southern accent saying, "Why won't he talk to me?" I'm quite puzzled by the fact that we aren't getting a response. When my sister started telling her story about a field trip, I'm quick to tell her that he won't talk back to her. It's as if I'm saying what's the point of talking if he won't even talk back!

I need to dig out that tape and let Mitchell listen to it....and perhaps find a way to make the recording a file so I can upload it to the computer. Does anyone know how to do that??!
