Updates from Facebook

Since not everyone who follows my blog is on Facebook, I have to remember to blog about some of the things that I mention on Facebook.

Yesterday Mitchell lost tooth #6! And this time, he really lost it. He was at school in the gym when he either pulled the tooth out or it came out and he couldn't find it. Thankfully he wasn't upset about the fact that the tooth was lost. I told him the Tooth Fairy would come anyway because she knew he had lost a tooth.

I would have had Mitchell write a note to the Tooth Fairy; however, his kindergarten homework took longer than expected last night.

He (and by "he" I mean "I") had to find the words put, out, under and blue in a newspaper or magazine. We aren't a newspaper or magazine family. We had just recycled a bunch of magazines and we don't get the newspaper on a daily basis. Besides, shouldn't the assignment be updated with the times? Couldn't we just look for the words on the internet?

Luckily we had gotten a Roswell newspaper and I started combing through that. It took me a while to find those words, so I know it would have taken Mitchell that much longer. Scanning a newspaper would take a 5-year-old about a year I think! After 30 mins, I had finally found all the words. I did have him locate the word by himself once I narrowed it down to the paragraph the word was in. Then we had to read for 10 mins. I was exhausted by this point!

When Mitchell went to bed, I pulled out his tooth fairy pillow and put it under his pillow. He said, "Mommy, why are we trying to trick the tooth fairy?" I said, "We're not tricking her. You lost your tooth, but she'll still come." He wasn't buying it and didn't feel right about it. So I suggested that we wait until today and write a note to the tooth fairy explaining that Mitchell had lost his tooth. Thankfully he was OK with waiting another day!

Let's just hope tonight's homework assignment doesn't take as long!

Mitchell enjoys lounging in our bed in the morning while we're getting ready. However, on the days that I wash and dry my hair, I send him out to the den because the hair dryer is too loud and he can't hear the TV. So I followed him out to the den and he ran over to his desk, which is in the dining room, and dug around behind it for a few seconds. Then he produced a kids version of a Balance bar. It had about 2 bites taken out of it. I couldn't remember the last time he had one of those for breakfast. It's definitely been 2 weeks or more. I asked him why he put it back there and he said he didn't like it. He also claimed that it had only been back there "1 or 2 hours". He's lucky we didn't get an infestation of ants over there!

Other Facebook postings have dealt with my pregnancy and my frustration over the H1N1 vaccine. If it's so important for pregnant women to get the vaccine, then they need to get it to the pregnant women! My OB's office isn't sure of when they will get it and they have said if I can find it elsewhere, then I should get it elsewhere. Problem is, I can't find it anywhere! A few places have the live virus version, but pregnant women can't get the live virus. On the news this morning, I heard that women are faking pregnancy in order to get the vaccine. That's great...take it from the highest risk group! How do these people sleep at night?? At least we're honest...we don't even try to trick the Tooth Fairy!

It seems like Mitchell is becoming more accepting of the possibility of having a baby sister. I borrowed a baby doll from our neighbor. (It's going to be part of my Halloween costume.) Mitchell saw it when he got home and asked me if the doll was for his baby sister.

After we told him I was having a baby, he went to school and excitedly told his teacher about it. But he couldn't remember if we were having a baby in April or August. At least he got the first letter of the month right!
