Our little puddle jumper

Dave got home with Mitchell around 4:50 pm yesterday. We were going to run out to get something to eat together, so I just came downstairs when they pulled into the garage. When I got downstairs, Dave had Mitchell’s door open because Mitchell was getting fussy and he told me that I would laugh when I saw what Mitchell was wearing. I peeked in through the back door and saw him wearing a yellow shirt with navy blue trim around the neck and arms and sky blue pants that have colorful patches on the knees. He seriously looked like a clown! Dave handed me the daily report from school to read about why he was dressed that way. Before reading it, I ran upstairs to get a more presentable outfit.

I came back down and got in the car and read this from his daily report:

“We took the children outside for a bit after a light sprinkle and Mitchell found the 1 and only mud puddle. His soiled clothes are in a bag in his cubby.”

Luckily he was just wearing gray knit shorts and t-shirt…nothing too nice. His pants were absolutely filthy when I took them out of the bag to wash them. He must like to sit down in the mud puddle.

So I saw his teacher this morning and told her that they should take pictures next time because I would love to see how he looked. The director was in his class as well and I guess she wasn’t there yesterday because she asked what happened. So Paula told her that they went out in the afternoon but they had diligently wiped down everything. She said before she knew it, she heard Mitchell giggling and laughing and found him in the one and only mud puddle in the yard. She thought she could outsmart him by covering the puddle with some wood chips. But all he did was remove the wood chips and start playing and splashing in the puddle again. She said he has a really good memory and with him, out of sight doesn’t mean out of mind! She said he also doesn’t try to hide when he’s doing something bad. He gives himself away by giggling and laughing at himself.

I guess they need to learn to not take Mitchell outside unless they are absolutely sure that there are no mud puddles in sight.

On another note, he will be moving up to the older toddler class on Tuesday, September 6th. He will finally be reunited with Zach!
